The face is the most requested area after the bikini, and the most delicate to treat. It is also where people hesitate most about what exactly to have done. Here are the options and the markers for choosing.
The options and their prices
- Upper lip — €34: the most frequent request.
- Chin — €34: the chin and its border.
- Lip + chin — €55: the most common combination, and better value than the two separately.
- Cheeks — €55: the sides of the face, including sideburns when they run too low.
- Full face — €89: lip, chin, cheeks and the outline of the face.
One sum worth doing yourself: lip (€34) + chin (€34) + cheeks (€55) comes to €123, while the full face is €89. If three areas concern you, take the full package.
What makes the face different
It is a hormone-dependent area
This is the most important point, and the one sometimes kept from you. Follicles on the face and neck respond to hormones: new ones can wake up over the years, even after a successful protocol.
In practice: count on 8 to 10 sessions rather than 6 to 8, then maintenance sessions spaced further apart. We are talking about a very clear, lasting reduction, not a guaranteed disappearance for life. If your hair growth appeared recently or quickly, read our article on laser hair removal and hormones.
Sessions are closer together
The hair cycle is shorter on the face: we space sessions 4 to 6 weeks apart, against 6 to 8 on the body.
Settings are more cautious
Facial skin is thin, and we work near the eyes — eye protection is compulsory, and we never treat inside the orbit. Eyebrows are not an area we treat.
Sun: non-negotiable
The face is uncovered all year round, including in Belgium. This is the area where the rule is strictest: 4 weeks without exposure before a session, and a high-factor sunscreen between sessions, otherwise the risk of marks rises sharply.
It is also why the face is treated far better in winter.
Never tweeze
It is the most common reflex on the chin and lip, and the most counterproductive when you are considering the laser: tweezers pull out the root, which is precisely the target. 4 weeks with no tweezers or wax before starting, and throughout the protocol.
Between sessions you can shave. Many women hesitate, fearing it will “grow back thicker”: that is a myth, as we explain in this article. Shaving changes neither the colour, nor the thickness, nor the density of the hair.
On dark skin
Since the face is thin-skinned and often more pigmented, this is where the choice of device matters most. We use the Nd:YAG with gradual settings, and we are happy to run a test before treating the whole area. The subject is covered in our article on dark skin.
What we will tell you at the assessment
We look at the colour and density of the hair on each sub-area — often the lip justifies treatment and the cheeks much less. We will tell you frankly if an area is not worth it, and we will warn you that maintenance will be needed.
