Everything About Our Laser Hair Removal FAQ
General Questions About Treatment
What happens during your first laser session?
Your journey begins with a free consultation, which includes a medical questionnaire and a consent form. Then, we schedule your first session, during which you will need to shave the area to be treated the day before.
Are the results guaranteed?
Indeed, this is a permanent method with approximately 85% hair removal. However, hormonal regrowth is still possible depending on your skin type (phototype). This is an important point in any laser hair removal FAQ.
Why invest in laser hair removal?
When you compare hair removal methods, the advantages become clear:
- Laser: A permanent choice with unmatched comfort.
- Electrolysis: A slower and more expensive method.
- Waxing: Requires lifelong sessions, with recurring pain and costs.
Is laser hair removal painful? Is it bearable?
The sensation feels like slight pinpricks and warmth, which varies depending on the area and your sensitivity. However, to ensure your comfort, our device contains a high-quality cooling system.
Practical Session Details
Why choose Epilsoft's medical lasers?
Alexandrite Laser (755 nm): Ideal for light skin, as it is perfectly absorbed by melanin. ND:YAG Laser (1064 nm): Specially designed for dark and olive skin, as it penetrates deeper. Our integrated cooling system guarantees comfort and safety in all cases.
What skin types can be treated?
Thanks to our different types of lasers, all skin types can be treated, from the lightest to the darkest.
How many sessions are needed?
Light skin: Generally, 5 to 8 sessions are sufficient. Dark skin: For optimal results, 9 to 12 sessions are necessary.
How long should I wait between sessions?
The duration depends on the area to be treated and takes into account the hair growth cycle:
- Face: 4 to 6 weeks
- Torso/Bikini/Underarms: 6 to 8 weeks
- Legs: 10 to 12 weeks
Precautions, Risks and Contraindications
Are there risks associated with the laser?
Rest assured, the laser does not emit UV or X-rays, only targeted infrared light. Therefore, the effects are limited to redness or very rare temporary small scabs, which you can easily soothe with an Aloe Vera gel.
What are the contraindications?
We apply strict contraindications to ensure your safety:
- Recent tanning (sun or UV)
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Use of photosensitizing medications
- Conditions such as vitiligo
- White, blonde or red hair (as they do not respond to the laser)
- Use of self-tanners
- Herpes or hemorrhoid outbreaks in the area to be treated
What should I do just before my session?
For optimal and safe treatment, we ask you to do the following:
- Shave the area to be treated 24 hours before your appointment (not earlier!).
- Make sure the skin is clean: do not use body lotion, deodorant or creams on the day itself.
- Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to avoid friction after treatment.
What should I absolutely NOT do after a session?
The skin is sensitive after treatment. Therefore, avoid during the first 24-48 hours:
- Hot showers, baths, saunas or swimming pools.
- Intensive sports (sweat can irritate the skin).
- Direct sun exposure on the treated area. Always use a high SPF (50+).
- Other hair removal methods such as waxing or epilators. Only shaving is allowed.
Specific Cases and Results
Is laser hair removal on the face safe?
Absolutely. Laser hair removal on the face, such as the upper lip or chin, is very effective and safe, provided it is performed by a trained specialist. We use extremely precise settings and ensure perfect eye protection. It is a popular treatment for smooth and worry-free skin.
Does shaving make hair thicker or darker?
No, this is a common myth. When you shave a hair, you cut it at its widest point. The stubble that grows back therefore feels rougher, but the hair structure, thickness or color does not change at all. Shaving therefore has no negative effect on the effectiveness of laser treatment.
