Top Laser Treatment Questions

What happens during your first laser session at Epilsoft?

Your journey begins with a free consultation, which includes a medical history review and consent form. Afterwards, we schedule your first session, noting that the area must be shaved the day before.

Once in the treatment room, we provide everything for your comfort: a gown, protective eyewear, and precise device settings. Finally, we complete the session by applying a soothing Aloe Vera gel.

Are the results guaranteed?

Indeed, this is a permanent method with approximately 85% hair eradication. However, hormonal regrowth is still possible depending on your skin type (phototype).

As a result, maintenance sessions are sometimes useful every 4 to 5 years on average.

Why invest in laser hair removal?

When considering hair removal, the advantages of laser treatment become clear. For instance:

  • Laser: It's a permanent choice in over 85% of cases, offering unparalleled comfort.
  • Electrolysis: In contrast, this method is slower and more expensive, for limited areas.
  • Waxing: This option involves lifelong sessions, with recurring pain and costs.
Is laser hair removal painful? Is it bearable?

The sensation feels like light pricks and heat, which varies depending on the area and your sensitivity. To ensure your comfort, our device includes a high-performance cooling system.

Additionally, for the most sensitive skin, applying a numbing cream one hour before the session is an option.

Practical Session Details

Why choose Epilsoft's medical-grade lasers?

We use specific lasers for targeted results:

  • Alexandrite Laser (755 nm): Ideal for light skin, as melanin perfectly absorbs its wavelength.
  • Nd:YAG Laser (1064 nm): Specifically designed for medium to dark skin, as it penetrates deeper.

In all cases, our integrated cooling system guarantees both comfort and safety.

What skin types can be treated?

Thanks to our different types of lasers, we can treat absolutely all skin types (phototypes), from the lightest to the darkest.

How many sessions are needed?

The number of required sessions typically depends on your skin type. Specifically:

  • Light skin: Generally, 5 to 8 sessions are sufficient.
  • Dark skin: You should plan for 9 to 12 sessions for an optimal result.
How long should I wait between sessions?

The interval depends on the treated area to respect the hair growth cycle:

  • Face: 4 to 6 weeks
  • Torso/Bikini/Underarms: 6 to 8 weeks
  • Legs: 10 to 12 weeks

Precautions, Risks, and Contraindications

Are there any risks associated with the laser?

Rest assured, the laser emits no UV or X-rays, only a targeted infrared light. Therefore, the effects are limited to redness or very rare, temporary small scabs, which are easily soothed with an Aloe Vera gel.

What are the contraindications?

We adhere to strict contraindications to ensure your safety:

  • Recent tan (sun or UV)
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Use of photosensitizing medications
  • Conditions like vitiligo
  • White, blonde, or red hair (as they are not receptive to the laser)
  • Use of self-tanners
  • Herpes or hemorrhoid flare-ups in the treatment area
Why shouldn't I be tanned?

Tanned skin is skin loaded with melanin. **Consequently**, the laser, which targets the hair's melanin, could then target the wrong thing and cause burns or spots on the skin.

Can I undergo laser hair removal while pregnant?

No, pregnancy is a major contraindication as a precautionary measure. We recommend waiting at least 2 months after you finish breastfeeding to start or resume your sessions.

Specific Cases and Results

Is shaving allowed between sessions?

Yes, absolutely. Between sessions, only shaving and trimming with scissors are allowed. Most importantly, do not use wax, razor, tweezers, or an electric epilator, as these remove the hair bulb that the laser needs to target.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

We speak of permanent eradication for 80 to 90% of the treated hair. However, some more resistant areas, especially for hormonal reasons, may see an eradication of 50 to 70%, then requiring 1 to 4 maintenance sessions per year.
